Company details
In the late 1970’s, Dr. Robert Salter conducted research that indicated moving a joint as soon as possible following surgery allowed the patient to recover mobility and function more quickly. By moving the joint immediately after surgery, the synovial fluid necessary for nourishment of the joint would continue to circulate which does not happen when the joint is immobilized.

Along with John Saringer, an engineer, Salter designed the first CPM device designed for use on rabbits. Rabbits have many of the same traits as human beings. Based on the performance and the potential of early CPM models, John Saringer started Toronto Medical Corporation (TMC) and began manufacturing CPM devices which are a precursor to the well established OrthoAgility® line.
